Smoked Tofu Chinese Fondue


For festive dinners, try this smoked tofu Chinese fondue a flavorful, plant-based alternative that brings everyone together around the table.
Broth Ingredients

5 cups (1.2 L) water

¼ cup miso

1 tbsp salted herbs

1 tsp apple cider vinegar

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)*

2 green onions, thinly sliced

1 small fresh red tomato, diced

2 garlic cloves, crushed

A handful of fresh cilantro

A pinch of cayenne or hot sauce
For Dipping

Preparation

In a saucepan, combine all the broth ingredients.

Mix well and simmer for about 20 minutes.

Using a slotted spoon, remove the solid ingredients from the broth or strain through a fine sieve, then pour into a fondue pot.
* You can replace Worcestershire sauce with Bragg or tamari and a touch of maple syrup.
** Small cubes of smoked tofu are delicious dipped into the broth as a meat-free alternative.
Yields about 6 cups of broth.
