Captain Style Smoked Tofu Tacos Baja-Style

Bring a sunny touch to your table with these Baja-style tacos a delicious recipe featuring our marinated Captain Style Smoked Tofu. 

Ingredients

Mango Salsa

  • 1 small white onion, chopped

  • 2 small mangoes, peeled and diced

  • 8 cherry tomatoes, quartered

  • 5 ml (1 tsp) ground chipotle

  • Juice and zest of 1 lime

  • 2.5 ml (½ tsp) salt

Air-Fried Capitaine’s Tofutofu

  • 80 ml (⅓ cup) cornstarch

  • 125 ml (½ cup) cold soda or beer

  • 5 ml (1 tsp) salt

  • 10 ml (2 tsp) sugar

  • 240 g (full pack) of Captain Style Smoked Tofu

Crema

  • 250 ml (1 cup) cream of choice

  • 60 ml (¼ cup) nutritional yeast flakes

  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) lemon juice

  • 5 ml (1 tsp) salt

Toppings

  • 1 avocado, sliced

  • 375 ml (1 ½ cups) red cabbage, finely shredded

  • Fresh cilantro leaves, to taste

  • Lime wedges

  • 8 corn tortillas

Preparation

    1. Prepare the mango salsa by mixing all the ingredients in a small bowl. Set aside.

    2. Prepare the crema by whisking all the ingredients in a small bowl. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

    3. Preheat the air fryer to 200°C (400°F).

    4. In a medium bowl, combine the cornstarch, soda or beer, salt, and sugar. Add the pieces of Captain Style Smoked Tofu and gently toss to coat evenly. Transfer to the air fryer basket and cook for 15 minutes.

    5. Meanwhile, heat a skillet over high heat and grill each tortilla for 20 seconds on each side. Set aside and cover with a clean towel to keep warm.

    6. Place 2 tortillas on each plate. Top each with mango salsa, avocado slices, and red cabbage. Divide the Captain Style Smoked Tofu sticks evenly among the 8 tortillas. Drizzle with crema and garnish with cilantro leaves.

    7. Serve with lime wedges.
